The Hotel de France et de Russie is an elegant former eighteenth century post-house, built of local Dordogne stone and situated in the centre of Thiviers, opposite the Town Hall and surrounding parkland. The hotel, a haven of tranquility, is set amidst pretty gardens with terrace, sheltered by fine trees and has private parking to the rear.
The charm and authenticity of this beautiful home offer you comfort, rest, and a sense of well-being. English, French and Spanish are spoken. We provide a warm friendly welcome to all our guests, whether travelling on business or leisure. There are ten light, spacious and individually decorated comfortable bedrooms, all with en suite WC and bathroom, telephone, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. We welcome pets and have rooms designated for both animals and guests who wish to smoke.
There is an attractive bar, offering snacks and light meals and a comfortably furnished guest sitting room with internet access via WiFi. Breakfast is served in the dining room.
The hotel takes its name from the French-Russian Alliance celebrated at the end of the 19th century. This was signed in 1893 in Paris by Tzar Alexander III but had, in fact, been negotiated and drawn up by his loyal General Nikolai Obroutcheff who was resident in the Dordogne.
